Impacts of land use and landscape pattern on water quality at multiple spatial scales in a subtropical large river

چکیده
The coupling between land use/landscape pattern and water quality in river systems varies across different spatial temporal scales. It is important to understand the association scales for protection of resources. Here, we measured seasonal at 12 sub-basins upper reaches Han River (UHR) 2010 2018. We conducted factor analysis redundancy determine links use multiple identify main factors influencing quality. found that concentration nutrients, including total nitrogen, phosphorus, nitrate-N, ammonium-N were higher during wet season than dry season. Total nitrogen was driver nutrient pollution UHR, whereas phosphorus identified as another potential pollutant. also parameters more strongly related types Croplands urban lands increased concentrations water, forest grasslands decreased sub-basin scale. Land riparian zone better explained variations landscape metrics generally largest patch index Shannon's diversity predictors UHR.

Land use impacts on surface water quality by statistical approaches
Surface waters are the most important economic resource for humans which provide water for agricultural, industrial and anthropogenic activities. Surface water quality plays vital role in protecting aquatic ecosystems. Unplanned urbanization, intense agricultural activities and deforestation are positively associated with carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous related water quality parameters. Multip...

Understanding the relationship between land use and surface water quality is necessary for effective water management. We estimated the impacts of catchment-wide land use on water quality during the dry and rainy seasons in the Dongjiang River basin, using remote sensing, geographic information systems and multivariate statistical techniques. The results showed that the 83 sites can be divided ...

This study examines the relationships between land cover change and water quality change in three urbanizing watersheds in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States: Burnt Bridge Creek, Salmon Creek, and the Tualatin River. All three watersheds have had many of their water quality parameters exceeding Total Maximum Daily Loads as required by their state’s environmental agencies in the p...
متن کاملA Statistical Assessment of the Impact of Agricultural Land Use Intensity on Regional Surface Water Quality at Multiple Scales
Understanding the effects of intensive agricultural land use activities on water resources is essential for natural resource management and environmental improvement. In this paper, multi-scale nested watersheds were delineated and the relationships between two representative water quality indexes and agricultural land use intensity were assessed and quantified for the year 2000 using multi-sc...
